Upon meeting Professor Gatrad, you will realise that in his profession, he is utterly resolute to offer teaching to his students, guiding his colleagues and caring for his patients. His articulate teaching methods allow you to comprehend difficult concepts as easily as you would a simple one. In fact he makes learning very simple, logical and memorable. One of the more difficult situations a doctor will face is how to approach a fretful child and a worried parent. Professor Gatrad has demonstrated many times that genuine care and attention and communicating simply but effectively can go a long way. His gentle and playful demeanour towards children and their parents makes them feel at ease from the beginning of the consultation to the end. Fortunately, I had a chance to spend some time with him as a student and colleague and I witnessed on many occasions that the service of care he provides does not confine him to the scope of his job. Such as if a patient is in need of a particular test or results from a previous investigation and telephone enquiry is proving troublesome, he will go to the department in a different area of the hospital (teaching his students along the way!) to retrieve the results. I would like to conclude that I was glad to have been taught from such a sincere and humble person as Professor Gatrad.

My daughter had been seen by three GP's and 2 A & E Doctors who had no idea what was wrong with her, and within five minutes of meeting her Proffessor Gatrad was sure she had a particularly rare blood disease (spherocytosis). The blood test proved him right and we can now count on our daughter receiving continued care. His networking with the correct experts to ensure the correct path for treatment is brilliant. I would be more than happy to recommend Mr Gatrad to any parents that demand the best for their child.

My son Liam has had the privilege of being under Dr Gatrad's care since he was a small child. When other health professionals seemed to dismiss me as an over concerned parent Dr Gatrad listened, sought further examinations and treated Liam with so much genuine care and concern. Whenever we have an appointment we are always welcomed and made to feel at ease by his warmth and obvious total dedication to his patients. We consider ourselves to be very fortunate to know this great man. What a wonderful thing it would be if all Doctors could have the same qualities as Dr Gatrad...in fact I think it should be part of any doctors training that they spend time with such an inspiration. This review dosen't even touch the sides of my gratitude to him and Thank You seems so inadequate...but none the less Thank You Dr Gatrad. You make a huge difference to so many childrens (and parents) lives.

My family are so pleased about our experience with Dr Gatrad that I would like to share my thoughts about this Doctor. I took my newborn baby to see Dr Gatrad as I was very tense about comments that had been made to me by other professionals to put me in doubt as to whether my baby was healthy or not. Immediatley Dr Gatrad reassured me that my baby was healthy but to put my mind at rest he arranged a blood test as he recognised the stress I was under . Well the blood test did prove that my baby was healthy and Dr Gatrad was very understanding with me and checked my baby from head to toe and assured me that he was a perfect little baby. It is wonderful to see a doctor who is both very experienced and caring with his patients. Wonderful Man
